Saskatchewan Health Authority’s (SHA's) Foundation Forum 2023 aimed to show appreciation for the support the SHA receives from foundations, to facilitate networking and build stronger relationships and for joint learning and educational opportunities. Learning opportunities were focused on SHA’s strategic direction, building a culture of philanthropy and supporting innovation and transformation in our health system.

Thank you to our keynote speakers!
What an exciting and informative morning with our keynote speakers who shared a wealth of knowledge at the Forum. Barbara Collins, President and CEO of Humber River Health and Sandra Sualim, President & CEO of Humber River Health Foundation, located in Toronto, ON. We are humbled that both leaders joined us to share more about this world-class work (with just a snippet available in their bios below). Other presentations included Saskatchewan Foundation leaders Dino Sophocleous and Lecina Hicke speaking to “Building a Culture of Philanthropy, Together” and “Vision as a Part of Strategy: Aligning Foundation and Health Leadership in Support of Growth and Sustainability”.
Keynote Speakers
Barbara Collins
Barbara Collins was appointed the President and CEO of Humber River Hospital (HRH) in July 2016. In her previous role as COO, she served as the Senior Executive for HRH’s redevelopment project, leading the design, construction and activation of HRH’s 656 bed acute care Wilson Site in October 2015, North America’s first fully digital hospital. This ground-breaking approach to integrating technology across all hospital systems and workflows was shortly followed by the development and implementation of High Reliability Care and HRH’s Command Centre in November 2017, a first in Canada and second in the world.
As President and CEO of Humber River Hospital Barb has seen the establishment of two Reactivation Care Centres, a 320-bed long-term care facility, membership in the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network, launch of a research institute, establishment a Family Medical Teaching unit, and working with community partners to establish the North Western Toronto Ontario Health Team.
Ms. Collins is a Registered Nurse with an MBA from Queens University, and over 40 years of progressive leadership experience in all major clinical and support areas in acute care.
Sandra Sualim
Sandra Sualim is a fundraising professional who has raised millions of dollars in her career. She currently serves as President & CEO of Humber River Health Foundation where she is responsible for fundraising leadership, operations, governance and strategic planning in support of Canada's first digital Hospital as they light new ways in healthcare. Prior to her role at Humber River Health Foundation, Sandra was the Executive Director at BGC Canada Foundation, and has also held senior roles at SickKids Foundation and Havergal College. The first thing people notice when they meet Sandra is her passion for the positive. She helps find a positive angle to most any fundraising challenge. Sandra is a frequent speaker on the topic of effective and authentic relationship building as it pertains to fundraising and communications in general. She is an active volunteer and serves on the boards of several organizations.
Sandra graduated from the University of Toronto with a Honours Bachelor of Arts and holds an advanced Diploma from the University of Victoria, British Columbia in Public Relations. It doesn't stop there! In her spare time, she can be found spending her time writing children's stories, participating in artistic endeavours and even sporting a pair of ice skates at the hockey rink.
