Resources for Hiring Managers
Onboarding is the intentional and strategic way people are brought into the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). It focuses on acclimating to our culture, ensuring their safety, and how we guide and develop these new employees to become high performers in their role over the first 6+ months of their employment.
Successful onboarding & orientation is a demonstration of CARES and requires supervisor and senior leadership involvement to create a welcoming and supportive environment where the employee feels valued and a sense of belonging, right from the time they join the SHA.
Leaders play a critical role in ensuring our new hires have a safe and successful start with the SHA. To avoid delays, it's essential that standard onboarding processes are followed in a timely manner.
Key Hiring Reminders:
- New Hires to the SHA are required to complete the Online Learning Modules and Online Safety Training (TLR and Violence Prevention Program) as well as other required safety training for their position prior to commencing on the floor/ providing patient care duties.
- New Hires to the SHA must not start working for the SHA prior to the identified start date in their letter of offer. Commencing early poses a liability risk and our systems are designed to prevent this.
- Everyone has a role to play - new hires, hiring leaders, and the supporting teams like HR, eHS, and others. Timely execution of these processes is required to ensure a new hire can begin their online orientation on the start date identified in their letter of offer.
- New Hires complete their online orientation remotely, however if they are unable to do so it is the Manager's role to accommodate.
- There are a total of 7 separate learning modules and certificates that must be completed and returned by the new hire on their start date that include prerequisite learning for safety training and digital system access.
