Brand Transition FAQs
Phased approach to brand transition
Some re-branding will occur in planned phases (e.g., facility signage) while some requires additional consultation and consideration of operational impacts. These FAQs will help with some of the more commonly asked re-branding questions.
For any additional questions or concerns regarding brand transition, please contact Communications.
Clinical forms, policies and other documentation
Are we supposed to be updating clinical forms, policies, letterhead and material that still have fRHA branding?
Ideally, operational processes should be updated to reflect provincial standards, at which time the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) logo can be applied to materials. In cases where area-specific information is still needed, but not yet a provincial standard, clear and visible reference to that area must be made in the document (Regina and Area; Swift Current and Area) so as not to be confused with provincial standards.
It is expected that all re-branding comply with the Saskatchewan Health Authority visual identity standards.
I have a new project or initiative that requires SHA branded material. How do I go about creating them?
When developing SHA branded material, staff must use approved templates and are not authorized to create their own (including design elements and logos). Templates are built for you to self-populate and modify as needed. Any significant deviation from the approved template design elements must be reviewed and approved for use - please contact Communications with any questions regarding template use, visual identity standards, or branding issues.
If developing new clinical forms, contact your area manager/leadership to ensure they are developed for vetting and approval using a provincial approach.
Signage, parking passes and name badges
My area has a lot of signage and decals with my Region’s logo and name. When will this get this updated?
Facility Services is developing a strategy to transition facility logos and signage. There is no immediate expectation that site signage and other fRHA branding be removed from facilities. Please connect with your local Facilities Services area if you have questions.
My parking pass has my Region’s logo. Do I need to get a new one?
No. All parking passes, name badges, and security identification continue to be valid with the fRHA branding. Ongoing work is being done to transition these types of items in a cost-effective and appropriate way. Contact your local security area if you have questions regarding your parking pass.
Logos/identifiers, promotional/swag items, and advertising
My unit/facility/program developed its own logo that was not part of the fRHA or approved for use in SHA. Am I able to use it with print and promotional materials?
It is expected that all staff act as ambassadors and champions of the Saskatchewan Health Authority brand.
SHA Department Identifier logos can be supplied by CEC once they’re approved/requested for use by a department/program’s leadership team.
Please refer to section 3.6 of the Visual Identity Standards.
Additionally, no logo or brand development (new templates, designs or graphics) is to occur (by any employees, students, volunteers, partners and other persons acting on behalf of SHA or other entity) without expressed consent and approval of CEC Creative Services.
My unit/facility/program used its independent or fRHA logo to order jackets, pens and other material. Do we have to get rid of this and stop wearing our jackets?
No. Staff and teams can still wear and use fRHA-branded promotional items and clothing, however further production of those items should cease and the transition to SHA-branded materials should be considered as time and resources permit.
The production of new SHA-branded promotional material (swag) must be approved by CEC. SHA does not provide promotional items and departments are responsible for managing the process to create them using a third-party provider. SHA department-identifier logos should be considered for program-specific material. Contact CEC for more information or guidance.
Do I need to use SHA branding in public advertising?
Print and digital ads (e.g. newspaper, magazine, websites and social media) and other promotional material (e.g. recruitment banners, billboards, campaign elements) must reflect SHA branding and be approved by CEC Creative Services. Please consult with CEC prior to developing print or digital ads to determine if certain specifications are required.
Online content and social media
I’ve been asked to create a new, independent website for my unit/service/program. What happens with that?
Program areas, facilities and services are not to create independent websites, apps or social media accounts without the approval of CEC. Please contact CEC for questions and support with online content development.
It is expected that all digital forms of communication (websites, social media channels, apps) reflect the new Saskatchewan Health Authority visual identity.
Do videos created with fRHA logos that are still in use need to be updated?
No. We are balancing the need to establish the Saskatchewan Health Authority identity with the significant cost and effort to change branding. However, if your video does require updating for operational purposes and you are editing it, you should update the logo to reflect the Saskatchewan Health Authority identity as time and resources allow.
