Overview
Description
- Mycoplasma genitalium (Mgen) is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that causes infections such as cervicitis, endometritis, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in females, and with urethritis and epididymitis in males. Accurate detection of Mgen requires highly sensitive and specific nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) technology since even a low organism load may result in infection.
Ordering Recommendations

- Patient has negative test results for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
