- Copy of requisition MUST accompany specimen to SPH laboratory
- Fill in the 'Other tests' location on the Acute Care Phlebotomy Requisition Form # 101062 or the Community Lab Requisition Form #101064

- Preferred collection container: Gold (gel)
- Alternative collection container: Light Green (Lithium Heparin Gel)
Required volume
- Optimal volume: 4.0 mL Full collection tube
- Minimum volume: 0.25 mL serum or plasma
(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)
Transport and stability
- Centrifuge and remove serum from cells as soon as possible
- Store and ship refrigerated
