Overview
Description
- Patients can pick up a Sterile Wide Mouth Screw Cap Container at a LifeLabs location, RUH Test Centre, or SPH Test Centre.

- Preferred collection container: Sterile Wide Mouth Screw Cap Container
Collection procedure
- Stool cannot be collected from a diaper.
- Instruct patient to defecate into a sterile container with no preservative. Collect stool without contaminating with urine or water.
- Immediately add fresh stool (at least 1 gram) to a sterile specimen container without preservative or transport media.
- Send to lab as soon as possible. Specimen to be stored at 2-8°C until delivery to the lab.
- For laboratory only: Freeze specimen and submit frozen (-20°C to -80°C).

- Minimum amount: 1 gram
Transport and stability
- Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen : 1 month

- Specimens received where the collection protocols were not followed
