Preferred collection container: Light Green (Lithium Heparin gel)
Alternative collection container: Gold (gel)

Collection procedure

Administer 50 gram glucose drink

Allow 5 minutes for patient to consume the drink

Patient should remain at collection site and rest during testing period

They should not eat or drink anything other than water during testing period

Collect blood sample one hour after the patient finishes the drink

Required volume

Optimal volume: 4.5 mL full collection tube
Minimum volume: 1.0 mL

(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection.)
