Other information
- This test is primarily used to support the diagnosis of drug-induced lupus erythematosus, to distinguish drug-induced lupus from other forms of lupus such as SLE, from other autoimmune disorder.
- Indications for testing: when a person has been taking a drug for weeks or years and develops signs and symptoms including arthritis-like pain in one or more joints but no or little joint inflammation, fatigue, fever, muscle pain, sensitivity to sunlight.
- A positive histone antibody result alone cannot be diagnostic.
