Description

- Preferred collection container: Gold (gel) 5.0mL
- Alternative collection container: Red (no additive) 6.0mL
Required volume
- Optimal Volume: 4.5 mL Full collection tube
- Minimum Volume: 1 mL serum
(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection.)

Other information
- Can be used as an adjunct test in the prediction of type 1 diabetes and the differential diagnosis of type 1 versus type 2 diabetes.
- May be used to investigate insulin resistance in patients with established diabetes (types 1 or 2) or hypoglycemia in non-diabetic patients.
- Testing does not discriminate between insulin autoantibodies and antibodies produced in response to exogenous insulin therapy.
