Major Capital Projects - Business case spotlight
Previous Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Rounds stories (MCP 101, MCP 102 and MCP 103) has included an overview of some of the phases involved to plan and execute major capital projects. One of the most interesting phases to explore further, is the business case, as it drives project details and scope.
Led by the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement (SBP), the business case phase includes:
- finalization of the clinical program,
- space program development and planning,
- site identification and preliminary architectural/engineering/zoning assessments,
- identification and assessment of the infrastructure solution(s),
- high-level cost estimates,
- procurement options and risk analysis, and
- community and stakeholder engagement.
Community and stakeholder engagement is led by the SHA in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and SBP. In a follow-up story, we will highlight its purpose and why it is a critical component of the business case phase.
