Staff bring cultural richness to residents
Residents and patients at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre had a taste of the Philippines, hot off the grill.
For the second year, staff served up a barbecue featuring Filipino food.
"It's for the happiness of the residents," said Florema Alunday, a care aide who helped arrange the event.
Alunday said the centre puts on a variety of meals to bring residents diversity in their dining.
The food at the barbecue was provided by the Filipino staff at the centre, and featured items like chicken skewers and a mango dessert.
"We like them being happy. We like to see their smiles."
Once again, the barbecue in June was a hit, and Alunday said residents are already asking when the next one will be.
This compassionate initiative and willingness to share culture illustrates the SHA CARES values of compassion, accountability, respect, equity and safety.
Staff at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre offered patients and residents a sizzling taste of Filipino hospitality.
