Wear orange this Friday
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is committed to providing culturally safe, equitable care and demonstrating its commitment to truth and reconciliation throughout the year. As part of this commitment, all SHA staff and physicians are encouraged to wear orange on the last Friday of every month.
Gord Fox, a First Nations and Métis Health Coordinator based in Broadview, shared his thoughts on the initiative’s significance and why widespread participation would be meaningful.
“Wearing orange honours the survivors, families and victims of residential schools,” Gord said. “We need to continue to work together to help overcome all those pains and hurts that have happened. Keep our orange shirts on.”
Wearing orange is a meaningful step and a visible reflection of the SHA’s CARES values of compassion, accountability, respect, equity and safety.
“The SHA is committed to safe, equitable care – they believe in truth and reconciliation,” Gord said.
Staff and physicians are encouraged to participate this Friday, June 27. Photo submissions are welcome and may be featured across SHA communication channels as part of this collective journey.
