Acute Care expansion shows SHA CARES values in action
Last week, the Government of Saskatchewan and the Ministry of Health announced a plan to expand acute care capacity at Saskatoon City Hospital (SCH). Over the next 12 to 16 months, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will implement a phased plan to add 109 acute care beds at SCH, increasing Saskatoon’s acute care capacity by 14 per cent. This plan will reduce ER wait times, improve hospital flow and enhance access to critical services for patients across Saskatchewan.
In this video, CEO Andrew Will explains the impact this announcement will have on patients, staff and physicians, as well as its role in easing capacity pressures in Saskatoon and across the province.
This initiative reflects the SHA’s commitment to delivering compassionate, respectful and safe care, upholding the SHA’s CARES values — compassion, accountability, respect, equity and safety.
Beyond enhancing patient care, the expansion will create over 500 new job opportunities for health-care professionals while providing existing staff with more resources and enhanced support to manage increased patient volumes.
