Parkade eliminates staff waitlist at Regina General Hospital
Since opening the new on-site parkade at Regina General Hospital (RGH) on December 16, 2024, every eligible staff member on the waitlist at RGH has now been offered a parking spot.
“Employee feedback on the new parkade has been very positive,” said Greg Panio, Manager of Parking Services at SHA. “The parkade has made a real difference in the daily routine of many employees through increased convenience and safety.”
Early projections were that the parkade would reduce the waitlist by 60 per cent, leaving several hundred staff still waiting for parking. However, a combination of daily parking stall counts, in-depth analysis of parking patterns and a thorough review of the waitlist allowed Parking Services to completely eliminate the waitlist.
The new parkade at RGH is an example of living the SHA Values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Equity and Safety (CARES), especially the value of safety. Safety features within the parkade include motion-sensor lighting, 55 cameras, a duress alarm system, and staff-only access to designated employee levels. With these enhancements to the parking situation at RGH, employees can focus on delivering high-quality healthcare without the added stress of parking challenges.
