Patient Booking System reaches 1.5 million milestone
The SHA’s Patient Booking System (PBS) reached a major milestone, with 1.5 million patient appointments booked through the online platform since its launch in March 2021.
The system provides an easy way for patients to book their own appointments for influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations, as well as lab and electrocardiogram (ECG) appointments. It also sends automated reminder notices, reducing the number of no-show appointments.
“We’re meeting people where they are, bringing the services to them,” said PBS Manager Caitlin Hanson. “As a rural person, that really speaks to me.”
Hanson’s team creates listings for clinics throughout the province using submissions from local operational teams - giving them greater control and flexibility to respond to community needs.
“We need that accessibility, especially for rural and northern residents who travel for appointments. They can easily look at clinics in neighbouring towns and book at the site that works for them. It’s a great example of the SHA’s CARES values of compassion, accountability, and equity in action.”
