Dino Sophocleous
Dino Sophocleous has over thirty years of experience as a professional fundraiser and senior executive in the charitable sector. He has served with community based organizations, as well as regional and national charities. He specializes in financial and operational management, major giving and capital campaigns and has directed/managed campaigns with goals ranging from $10 million to $70 million.
He is currently the President & CEO of Hospitals of Regina Foundation where he oversees operations and fundraising activities supporting the three hospitals in Regina and health care in southern Saskatchewan. Prior to his current assignment, Dino was the President of the Arthritis Research Foundation at University Health Network, in Toronto. In the past he has served as President of the Hearing Foundation of Canada, Associate National Director of Development for Ducks Unlimited Canada, and National Director of Development for the Huntington Society of Canada.
Dino has served on the national board of directors of the Canadian Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Canada), and is also a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). He is a past chair of the Network of Saskatchewan Hospital & Healthcare Foundations, and is a past vice-chair of the CAGP, Saskatchewan South Chapter.
He has been a guest speaker in the non-profit programs at Humber College and Metropolitan University in Toronto, and has presented at a number of national conferences on leadership, fundraising ethics, major gift fundraising, marketing & branding and the operational management of charities. In 2021 he authored the ethics chapter in the second edition of Excellence in Fundraising in Canada.
He has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2023) in recognition of dedicated service in the community. Dino holds the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) professional designation, a BA (Specialized Honors) in Economics from York University in Toronto and has completed the Capital Campaigns Program at the AHP Madison Institute.
