Privacy Training
As employees and physicians within the health-care system, we are entrusted to protect the personal health information of the patients, clients and residents we serve, as well as the personal information of our Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) employees. As per The Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), we have a legal obligation to ensure their health-care information is protected, and only accessed when required for care, or when permitted by legislation. The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (LA FOIP) provides the right of privacy with respect to the personal information we hold about our employees.
To ensure that all employees and physicians understand their roles and responsibilities when it comes to protecting patient and employee privacy, the SHA requires all active employees and physicians to complete training in privacy and confidentiality on an annual basis.
The 2024 module is titled “Privacy and the Need to Know” and has been launched in MyConnection. All active employees are required to complete the training module, including new hires.
The training module takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
MyConnection is mobile friendly. This means you can complete the training on your cell phone.
Be sure to launch MyConnection through your Google Chrome browser.
