Clinical Risk and Claims Management supports Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) leaders on clinical risks and legal claims, managing liability and providing situational specific risk management support to SHA staff and physicians.
Services include:
- Legal & Medical Malpractice Claims
- Function as Proper Officer Throughout the Legal Process (Mediation, Questioning, Pre-Trial, Trial)
- Liaise with SHA Internal/External Legal Counsel
- Gather and/or Secure Evidence, including all Documents Within SHA’s Power, Possession & Control Related to the Case
- Facilitate Legal Interviews
- Respond to Undertakings
- Demands for Compensation
Assess & Respond to Patient or Visitor Injury Related Demands - Clinical Risk & Liability Concerns
Advise on Informed Consent, Complex Case Management & Support Leaders in Decision Making Using Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies - Court Proceedings
Advise & Support Staff with Subpoenas, Witness Preparation & Complex Production Orders - External Agency Investigations
Review Reports & Facilitate Response to Recommendations- Coroner, including Management of Coroner Inquests
- Ombudsman
- Child Advocate
- Human Rights Commission, including Management of Tribunals/Cases Where Patient is Initiating the Complaint
- Multi-Patient Disclosure
