New mental health supports provide compassionate care for Saskatchewan youth
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), alongside the Ministries of Health and Social Services, the Government of Canada, and community partners, is supporting EGADZ in expanding mental health and addiction services for Saskatchewan youth.
Through this collaboration, two new residential group homes will be built in Saskatoon’s Parkridge neighbourhood, providing 24-hour care and recovery support for up to 10 residents aged 12 to 18. These homes will offer clinical care and youth-focused recovery programming in a safe, structured environment.
“These homes will play a crucial role in providing compassionate, respectful, equitable, and safe care for youth in Saskatchewan,” said Zoe Teed McKay, Provincial Executive Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services (MHAS) for the SHA. “The homes are a true testament to living out the CARES values of compassion, accountability, respect, equity and safety.”
The project will give vulnerable youth a safe, stable place to heal and recover, supporting smoother transitions back to family or community-based care.
Construction is underway following a July 3 sod-turning event. Read the Government of Saskatchewan news release for more information.
