Increased visibility into storeroom supplies
The wave one implementation of AIMS now means storeroom supervisors can easily check item supply levels anywhere in the province and quickly reallocate supplies as needed.
“If one location is experiencing a shortage, a storeroom supervisor in any area can look up availability anywhere in the province,” said Val Klassen, Director, Business Systems Support and Analytics for the Contracting, Procurement, and Supply Management department at the SHA. “Before, supervisors had to manually phone others to determine who had the inventory on hand.”
Klassen said supply teams work closely with a provincial team to determine any product shortages and backorders. Teams huddle daily at 9 a.m. to discuss supply needs. They watch for system notifications and work closely with clinicians, end users, and suppliers to troubleshoot any emerging supply issues.
Prior to AIMS, teams had to pull the information manually, reach out to others by phone or email to find out if the product was available, arrange for a transfer, and then coordinate everything manually.
Supply teams are noticing the improvement.
“Although the system is still new, staff appreciate having increased visibility into our products and supplies,” shared Klassen.

Pay advances process
Advances are now issued at 60 per cent of gross pay. This standard percentage ensure the employee is compensated according to their normal net pay while accounting for statutory deductions (CPP, EI, tax), and the voluntary deductions (SHEPP, Group life, disability, parking, etc.).
Once the actual pay is processed through the system during the following pay period, the advance is collected back from the total gross earnings. If there is money still owed to the employee, the additional payment takes place.
