Health Human Resources Saskatchewan Health Authority update
Story
Over the past month the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s (SHA) recruitment initiatives, with support from the Government of Saskatchewan’s Health Human Resources (HHR) action plan, have added to SHA staffing in big ways. Some of the valuable additions to our team include:
- The SHA has hired 877 new nursing graduates from Saskatchewan and out-of-province since December 2022.
- Currently, 185 internationally educated registered nurses from the Philippines are enrolled in bridging. Of these, 89 have arrived in Saskatchewan for the clinical portion, and will begin working once they become licensed.
- 206 positions have been filled of the 250 new and enhanced permanent full-time positions targeted in nine high-priority occupations to stabilize staffing in rural and remote areas of the province.
- Twelve physician assistant positions will be posted in communities across the province. Eight are currently posted.
