SHA CARES values form foundation of patient-centred care for Kidney Health Clinic teams
The SHA Kidney Health Clinic teams in Saskatoon, Regina, northern and southern Saskatchewan are committed to providing patient and family-centered care. These teams live the SHA’s CARES values (compassion, accountability, respect, equity, and safety), by asking patients what matters most to them. This question ensures every patient has a great health-care experience that's customized to their needs, as part of the SHA’s philosophy of patient and family centred care.
One way the team exemplifies this philosophy of care is by scheduling appointments based on what works best for each patient. Before scheduling appointments, patients are asked what best fits their lifestyle so that the care plan is easy for them to follow. Some options include:
- scheduling all appointments on the same day or over multiple days;
- booking appointments on days when the patient is already seeing other providers;
- attending appointments in-person, online, through telehealth, or by phone, and
- booking follow-up calls if the patient needs extra support.
Ensuring each patient gets the care they need is rooted in the SHA’s commitment to our philosophy of patient and family centred care; the heart of everything we do and the foundation for our CARES values.
