Child life Therapists empower patients through prep and play
Child Life Therapists like Lindsay, who is featured in this video, welcome kids into The Teammates for Kids Child Life Zone at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) in Saskatoon every day. The team provides support and coping mechanisms to patients and their families, wherever they are in their medical journey.
The Mosaic Child Life Program includes the expertise of child life therapists, recreation therapists and a music therapist. The attention these therapists pay to their patients’ physical, emotional and mental wellbeing through the Mosaic Child Life Program are prime examples of how SHA staff and physicians live the SHA CARES values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Equity and Safety. Every day in the Teammates for Kids Child Life Zone, in almost everything they do, they show deep compassion to patients and their families.
The Child Life Zone is part of a North American organization called Teammates for Kids and proudly supported by the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and their generous donors.
Lindsey Jungwirth shows how Child Life Therapists use a variety of methods to help our young patients cope with medical procedures.
